Wentworth Point – About & News

By Troy Deviesseux

Wentworth Point is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets. Previously known as Homebush Bay, Wentworth Point was renamed in early 2010 and is located opposite Rhodes and surrounded by harbour and parklands and neighbouring suburbs of Sydney Olympic Park and Newington.

Undergoing tremendous transformation, Wentworth Point is evolving from it’s industrial routes into a thriving residential and business lifestyle precinct.

The first major development was the Waterfront Estate, originally developed by Payce Consolidated in 2005 with final stages being development by renowned development firm, Sekesui House, Japans largest residential developer. The Waterfront Estate will be completed in late 2013 with  Further development and estates are being developed throughout the Wentworth Point peninsula with Billbergia now selling stage 6 of their 9 stage Marinas development. Stage 1 was completed in early 2013.

To support the growing population, retail and commercial precincts have and are continuing to be developed as part of these estates. The Piazza @ The Waterfront being the main commercial/business precinct with Cafes, Restaurants, Hair & Beauty plus an array of medical and other service providers creating a Mediterranean lifestyle and destination for lovers of the sweet life. The addition of the Marina Square and Pier-side Shopping Centre’s are due for completion in 2018.

Wentworth Point will also enjoy a brand new waterfront 18 class primary school which will also be due for completion in time for the 2018 school year. The completed Wentworth Point Library & Community Centre on Footbridge Boulevarde will further complement the area when opened shortly.

With the growth of any area, upgrading of infrastructure follows, such as the completion of the long awaited Bennelong Bridge. This bridge provides public transport, pedestrian and cycle-way access to Rhodes, reducing the current trip from 8km to under 1km to Rhodes Train Station. A private fleet of 3 electric buses will help motor residents throughout Wentworth Point and to Rhodes Train Station and Shoppping Precinct.

With so much to offer, Wentworth Point is attracting strong interest with owner occupiers, investors and renters looking to what the area has to offer,  from the Millennium and Bicentennial Parklands, cycleways and walking tracks, plus the events and amenities of Sydney Olympic Park. This is seeing everyone from professional singles and couples, young families to empty-nesters and retirees moving into the area.

The area provides a relaxed lifestyle whilst still being located close to the CBD, main arterial roads, motorways and waterways allowing access to the rest of Sydney in relatively short order.
